Former Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford joins Sheffield United on a short-term deal. The 32-year-old aims to revive his career and help the Blades out of the Championship relegation zone

Sheffield United have confirmed the signing of the 32-year-old forward Patrick Bamford on a short-term deal until January 2026.
Bamford arrives as a free agent after mutually parting ways with Leeds United in August.
Bamford’s arrival is notable not only for his experience but also because it comes despite a recent controversial incident: earlier this year he had led derogatory chants targeting Sheffield United’s manager Chris Wilder during Leeds’ promotion celebrations.
However, after a personal apology and reconciliation, Wilder publicly welcomed him — and now Bamford has the chance to revive his career and help the Blades fight for survival in the Championship.
Sheffield United have been struggling in the early 2025–26 Championship campaign, sitting low in the table and lacking attacking output.
Bamford’s addition could provide much-needed firepower — and if he stays fit and motivated, he could play a key role in helping the Blades climb away from the relegation zone.
